A case study for the installation of internal DC inverter water cooled condensers to air condition a large three bedroom duplex apartment

The Project:

This apartment, located within the historic 30 acre Princess Park Manor parkland development, a former victorian hospital, is situated in the London borough of Barnet. The building is Grade II listed (historic) under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act as amended for its special architectural or historic interest.

Like many apartments in listed (historic) buildings, the owners wanted air conditioning, but due to its listed status, they were not allowed to fit a traditional external condenser box. Cool You were consulted for this project because of our expertise in air conditioning residential listed buildings in conservation areas.

The only solution available to fully air condition this apartment, were our internal condenser air conditioning systems that allowed everything to be retained within the apartment.

For this installation, five water cooled condensers were installed high up in the ceiling void of the boiler room and one in a kitchen cupboard to supply energy efficient, quiet, DC Inverter high wall units to three bedrooms, the kitchen, living room and mezzanine area.

During the four days it took to fully install air conditioning throughout this very large duplex apartment, our technical team were able to connect the refrigerant pipework between the condensers and the room units using the roof space and cavity walls, enabling all the pipework to be concealed. Throughout the installation, there was very little disruption to the existing decoration or the clients who were resident throughout. All work was carried out as specified by HVAC and in accordance with the rigorous F-Gas regulations.

No planning permission was required to fit our fully internal air conditioning systems in this apartment.
